Come lie with me in leafy bower
And while away the sunlight hours
In tangle wood and flower meadow
On lapping shore where wild birds paddle
Read to me, and pull me near
And watch the whole world disappear
Let all our daydreams run quite wild
Like some capricious changeling child
Let fantasy of thought take wing
Of hedge knights, troubadours and kings
Cockled boats and horse drawn wains
The pain of lovers lost and gained
We’ll pluck plump berries, wild and fair
And you’ll twine daisies in my hair
We’ll smile together on the grass
To look upon the cloud shapes pass
And as day wilts begin to yawn
Embraced in nature’s summer song
